Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Review (Opal, Rose Gold and Champange Gold)

The craze of 2014 was definitely highlighting. Yes, I admit I became victim of it too. Whether it’s a matte highlight or a shimmering glow, highlighting is what 2014 brought to everyone’s immediate attention. With the rave of doing matte highlights, such as concealer, there was also a huge portion of clients looking for that soft or dominant glow on the high planes of their face. That’s where pressed and loose shimmering highlighters come into play. Becca Cosmetics, an Australian brand, is one of the leading high end cosmetic brands with raved about products, especially highlighters. Their called shimmering skin perfectors and they come in a range of shades suitable for all clients no matter their complexion. In my eyes, Becca Cosmetics is one of the leading queens in highlighters, or at least currently.

During the holiday’s last year, I decided to splurge on several highlighters from this brand to really see what the hype is about this brand. Their pressed shimmer skin perfectors run for $38 which isn’t bad considering the amazing product that’s in the compact. I picked up their top seller Opal (above image) Rose gold and their limited edition Champagne gold. I skipped out on Moonstone which is another popular shade for the reason that it’s pretty light. Opal is very comparable to MAC’s whisper of guilt limited edition highlight if you’re familiar. According to Becca, Opal is described as a golden opal pearl.

Who doesn’t love Rose gold? Becca describes Rose gold as a softened gold with rose tones infused into it. This highlighter is definitely a must have if you like a bronzey glow yet softer than a bronzer. Sometimes a golden glow to the skin is great but I feel that this highlighter just goes the extra mile. I love wearing this on my cheek bones on rather than on other areas on the skin to highlight. I prefer contouring and pushing this highlighter a little on top and above to create an amazing cheek look! Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t see this baby!

Who doesn’t love limited edition products? This Champagne gold beauty was limited edition during holiday of 2014 and when I saw it, I knew I had to have it. I’ll admit I am a sucker for limited edition products, I mean look at the gorgeous imprint on the highlighter! Limited edition to me means they know how amazing it is so you can only get your hands on it for a limited time! This beautiful highlighter is a lot darker in comparison to the other highlighters that I have mentioned. The great thing about this product is that I have to barely tap my brush in this product to get the desired pay off that i’m looking for.  This highlighter is definitely not targeted for my specific skin tone therefore for all my followers who are a little deeper than me, try to find this!

Overall my opinion of the Becca shimmering skin perfectors is A+. I love the soft buttery texture, the ease of application and the instant gratification that they all deliver. The shade range Becca offers to their clientele is great, and I only hope they expand in the future. For application, I recommend taking a nice fluffy brush to lightly apply this all over the face. Good brushes to use with this these products are the Sigma F35 tapered highlight brush or the Sephora Pro collection #65 fanbrush .

IMATS LA 2014 Review

I’m now back from having yet another fabulous weekend attending the International Make up Artist Trade show (IMATS) for the third time around. This past weekend was filled with so many fun activities, I can hardly count! Prior to traveling down to Pasadena, California, my sister Chelsea and I were invited to the Crown Brush blogging event on Friday, January 17th. This was an exclusive event only for beauty bloggers, so we knew we had to go! Please see prior blog post if you want more information on the Crown Brush blogging event. This was a great event to get insight to all the new goodies that Crown Brush was coming out with as well as getting pumped for IMATS. Of course after our excitement, we ended our first night with none other than Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles and boy was it amazing as usual!

We arrived at day one of IMATS around 9/9:30am, and the line was…. uhh yeah, long. I feel that as I’ve been going to these events that more and more people are finding out about this and attending so that there are longer lines all together.  Now it wasn’t a horrible line, don’t get me wrong, my excitement kept me alright, but it was a line that you needed to drink caffeine in since it would get crazy once you go inside to the convention. You literally needed all the energy your body could muster to keep up with all the intense shopping.  On day one, it was just my sister, Lindy and I who went together but we definitely met up with more amazing people once inside.

Once inside, my top priority was Sugarpill. If you are not familiar with Sugarpill Cosmetics, you ought to be!! The last two years I’ve missed out on the Burning Heart palette, which is the last palette in the collection to thus be complete. I have to get the individual palettes because last year they decided to come out with the Pro palette, which I basically now have. I didn’t see the point in getting it since I already had over 2/3 of the palette when it was launched. Anyhow, I got my palette and then some other goodies from them which I am very happy with. I think I’m good on products from Sugarpill until they release the Sparkle Baby palette.

After Sugarpill Cosmetics, we hopped over to Anastacia to get our dip brows and contours kits. After those two booths, it was kinda a blur, haha. We literally ventured around the whole convention center, weighed our chances with some lines and some that had none! One booth that I was very surprised with was Inglot. On both Saturday and Sunday, all throughout the day, I never saw a line. Last year the line was ridiculous for Inglot on both days! Weird how that happens sometimes.

I’m glad these two ladies didn’t get to sick of me this past weekend. I was literally like a kid in candy land when I walk into IMATS. There is so many pretty products, I literally just want to swatch everything or just buy it haha! From Anastacia, we literally roamed around the convention center, stopping at booths we had interest in and getting our fan girl pictures with our beloved YouTube gurus. This year was some much more relaxed than last years in regards to meeting our favorite YouTube gurus. We literally had the luck of meeting some outside of the convention center, or ones who had no line,  or if they hadn’t been approached yet. This year luck was for sure on our side!

P1000442I’m pretty sure that I love Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics(OCC) almost as much as I love Sugarpill. The pigmentation, longevity and cruelty free aspects of both of these lines is definitely a positive for me.  I kinda went crazy with some liptars and the new cosmetic pencils. The pencils are not instructed for lip only, so you can also use them for eyes as well! The deals at this booth were ridiculous that it’s easy to understand why I went a little crazy here.

There were some essentials that I needed to pick up from this trade show, one of which was Inglot blushes. I’ve heard raving reviews and the colors are simply gorgeous that I knew I had to get my own freedom system palette. It was reasonably priced to have a four pan blush palette, palette included for less than $45. In comparison to other blush palettes the convention was offering, there might have been better deals but not of this high quality of pigment.

Lashes were a big thing for me at this IMATS. I’ve personally never been a big lash person just because I am already happy with my lash length and I don’t feel that I need to wear them regularly. However when I saw Nigel has $1 lashes, I couldn’t resist. I only agreed on purchasing ten pairs, which is only ten dollars which is justified to me.  I vividly remember this elderly woman across from me who was literally counting her stacks of lashes and counted well past 100! I was like dang, she is not playing around! I understand that good quality lashes and good styles are not cheap, so when you can find an abundance at a good price, why not go for it?

One brand that I was super interested in exploring this round at IMATS would definitely be Sauce Box Cosmetics. Their eye shadow pans are very similar in size to that of Sugarpill, so that’s what attracted me. Be on the lookout for my review on Sauce Box Cosmetics eye shadows soon! I only picked one four pan colorful palette from them since none of the larger pan palettes shades attracted my attention.  The live artistry that was performed at this booth throughout both days was remarkable. I gained a chance to meet very talented free lancers, some of which are actually native to where I’m from!

P1000595Um duh I had to hit up my favorite Crown Brush booth! The amount of superior quality brushes that Crown brush had been phenomenal as always! Definitely picked up some of my favorite eye brushes, especially the fluffy ones for the crease, along with some duo fiber stippling brushes and some synthetic face brushes. The quality of Crown Brush is unparalleled to most cosmetic lines with brushes.

Naked Cosmetics has been the one booth that I have always debated on year after year. I already have so many loose glitters and pigments, that I truly don’t need any more, not to mention a stack of them. However, Naked Cosmetics is a brand that is throughly raved about for being one of the best, if not the best, brand for A plus grade cosmetics glitters and loose pigments. I saw some pigment stacks that did attract my eye, but not enough for me to settle on. Hopefully next year will be the year for me and you Naked Cosmetics!

My co-workers also made it down for day two of IMATS, so I had to get some candid’s of us 😉 Watching them shop was too adorable because it literally reminded me of how I was my first year at IMATS. They were so eager to get everything they wanted, hated the lines and could not stop smiling. I know I can plan to see them again next year since they’re already excited and talking about 2015. I’m glad these girls got a taste of IMATS, and if they’re addicted, it’s not my fault!

Um did I forget to mention that I went to a ballin ass after party a couple blocks away from IMATS? This elite invite was in promotion of the new Wayne Goss brush set, which was on display and might I saw was luxurious. My sister, Lindy and I attended this after party on Saturday evening and engaged in amazing horderves, cocktails, and amazing cupcakes. As we connected with other amazing bloggers and attendees, you won’t believe who walked in. Jefree Star and Kandee Johnson, Charisma Star just to name a few!! We got to speak with them in private, talk about how amazing they are and literally get to have a through conversation with people not trying to take a milllion selfies with them! I cannot express how baller this after party was and I have no one other to thank than my sister! Thanks sis for always knowing the goodies!

Overall this has been yet another successful year at IMATS. I feel that as each year goes by, I learn more and more what the cosmetic field has to offer me. The drive that I have for keeping my kit up to date with the latest raved about products keeps me blogging, making Youtube videos and being overly obsessed with new products. I am thankful that I have a team down to go every year and laugh at my obsession over makeup and constantly state that I don’t need products they know I’m picking up.  Well until 2015 IMATS, I can’t  wait to see how you’re going to top this year!

MAC Haul!

This haul is going to consist of two different visits to the Cosmetic Company Outlet. If you are not familiar with what a CCO is, it basically is a discounted make up that carries Estee Lauder brands such as MAC, Bobbie Brown, and even Smash box Cosmetics.  Not only do they carry makeup but also perfumes, all of which can be found at a discounted price. Upon my first visit to the CCO, I picked up a total of 6 items, three lipsticks, a lip liner, a blush and a pigment set. Upon my second visit I picked up two other lipsticks and a transparent setting powder. As you can tell, the second trip was not as difficult as the first, as in I didn’t purchase that many items. So overall, picked up five lipsticks  a lip liner, a blush, a set of pigments and a setting powder. All of these products are new to me, as in I have never purchased them before. Therefore this review is based on my initial impression of the products.

The first lipstick that I picked up is from the Ruffian collection, called Ruffian Red. This is a blue-based red lipstick that is somewhat bright. This is a matte lipstick, so when planning to wear this color, hydrate like crazy before hand, as well as exfoliating. When applying, color glides on smoothly with little effort and provides full opaque color to the lips. I will always wear any red lipstick with a lip liner before hand so that the color does not bleed and looks good.

Following in the same collection, the second lipstick I picked up is Ruffian Naked. Ruffian Naked is a rosy beige matte lipstick. When applying, color glides on smoothly with little effort and provides full opaque color to the lips. Because this is a nude, it can easily highlight the lines in your lips so its good to exfoliate and moisturize before applying this.  I’m loving nudes currently now that summer is coming up. This is a great lipstick that can be pared with any kind of eye or cheek look.

From the Marilyn Monroe collection, Holiday 2012, I picked up my third lipstick in Pure Zen. Pure Zen is a lightly frosted warm nude color that is a cremesheen. This is a re-promoted lipstick color, therefore it is not the first time it is being introduced to MAC. When applying, color glides on smoothly with little effort and provides full opaqueness to the lips. Packaging is cute, having the classic pin up of Marilyn on the product as well as her signature.

As my fourth, I picked up my first pro longwear lisptick in Dress it up. Dress it up is from the MAC Style drive collection. This collection came out with a total of six different lipsticks.  This lipstick is a blue based pink that has a creamy finish. In regards to coverage, this lipstick gives a semi- opaqueness to the lips.  The packaging of this lipstick differs from the typical MAC lipsticks as it is slender and has an easy closing mechanism which is helpful, it literally snaps close.

Now for a pop of color. The last lipstick that I chose to pick up is the MAC lustre lipstick in Razzle Dazzle. This lipstick is from the Asia Pacific region of the collection. This lipstick is a soft coral/peach color with a soft sheen. This lipstick was limited edition so I’m happy that I got my hands on it. It gives off a semi-opaque coverage to the lips. This is such a great lipstick to add my collection since I’m feeling the softer colors for lips at the moment.

Following along with lip products, I picked up my first official MAC Lip liner in Plum. This pencil is meant to line, shape and fill in your lips, initially giving any lipstick you layer over it with more longevity.  These lip liners are long-lasting and come in a variety of shades, most of which are matte. With that being said, these lip liners can be somewhat drying to the lips therefore it is recommended to prep your lips before hand with an intensive moisturizer. Plum tends to side more with the brown family then plum. While I was hoping it was have a touch more purple in it, hence the name Plum, I’m not disappointed with this lip liner. This lip liner pairs great with purple or deep color lipsticks.

With never previously owning a MAC pigment, I saw this crushed pigment collection and thought it would prove useful in my collection. This is the MAC Smoky Berry Crushed Metallic pigment set. Above are swatches of these pigments without and base and applied dry. It is highly recommended to use a base with this product along with some type of glitter/pigment adhesive.  The colors are as follows from left to right in the swatch above, Roasted Chestnut, Spicy smoke, Rose light and Pearl.  Roasted Chestnut is a dark chocolate-brown with shimmer. Spicy Smoke is an orange-red with a shimmer. Rose light is a soft rose-pink with metallic shimmer. Pearl is a true frosted white. These colors pair great with my blue eyes!

A soft lavender blush is what Full of Joy from MAC is. This blush is lavender with a frost finish, but the finish is very soft, not super frosty. There is definitely a blue undertone with satin sheen in it.  There is good color pigmentation in this blush and it is definitely build able.  In regards to the product, when dipping your brush in the pan, you get a good amount of powdery residue left over, therefore always tap off your brush before using.

MAC Translucent finishing powder

The last item that I picked up is from MAC’s prep and prime collection. I have always been interested in their setting powders, so I am happy that I can finally try out a nice translucent/transparent finishing powder from them. This product is advised to be used to set foundation or to be used on bare moisturized skin to give a more flawless finish and look to the skin. Because this is a white powder, we all know that we are all scared if this product will give your skin that white cast if you happen to take any flash photography. I haven’t experienced the white cast in my own usage, but I can understand if you use to much of this product you could create that.

Thanks so much for reading and see you guys next time!

Major Drugstore Haul (Target, CVS and Walmart)

It’s about time that I do a huge drugstore haul! Even though I really don’t need any more makeup, especially after going to the International Make up Artist Trade show (IMATS) this year. My haul consists of lipsticks, powders, foundations, eye liner, creme eye shadows, facial moisturizer, concealer, makeup wipes and mascara. So basically everything, lol.

The first lipstick that I got was from Wet n Wild called Dollhouse Pink, a very popular neon bright pink which is the bottom swatch. This is one of the colors that I have heard many people talk about, and now I understand why. When applied, this color is very similar to that of MAC’s Candy Yum Yum, just a slight bit more neon, if that was possible lol. This color swatched beautifully and I could tell right off the bat that it’s extremely pigmented and creamy. This lipstick is definitely a win for me!  The second lipstick that I picked up from the same company is Nouveau Pink, a color that was semi-disappointing above for the top swatch. When swatched, this color is very shear. This color looks like a gloss with a sheer magenta in it. Even though this product is in lipstick form, it appears on lips and swatches like a gloss. While that’s a disappointment, the pigmentation isn’t that bad, so I can see myself using this product.

The other lip products that I got to pick up were the infamous Maybelline Color whispers. The first color is Faint for Fuchsia which is a rose pink which is the bottom swatch. The other color that I picked up is Mad for Magenta which is the top swatch. With already knowing a little bit about these lipsticks, I knew that they were going to appear more as a gloss, so I was not surprised when I swatched the lipsticks. I would typically use these if I wanted to top it over a nice opaque lipstick or if I’m in a rush and I just want a wash of color on my lips. Overall, I feel that these could be a little cheaper knowing that they aren’t packed with color pay off, but that’s just my opinion.

If I am not the latest person in the world?!? I finally got my hands on five of the infamous Maybelline Color Tattoo’s.  Maybelline states on their website, “Dare to wear our longest-lasting shadow. Our ink technology creates super-saturated color. Cream gel smoothes on for vibrant color that does not fade.”

With the range of colors that I picked up, i’m putting these color tattoo’s to the test! I am already a huge fan of creme eye shadow bases, so when I heard that rave about these I knew that this time I had to pick up a few. The colors that I picked up are “75 Electric Blue”, “05 Too Cool”, “55 Inked in Pink”, “25 Bad to the Bronze”, and “70 Barely Branded”.  My color selection is purely based on what colors I would actually wear, a yes I will wear that beautiful blue color!  *All swatches above are without base/primer.

L’Oreal had some goodies that I wanted to try out, first of which is the L’Oreal Infalliable eye shadow in Endless Sea.This product appears as a pressed eyeshadow, that even has a little stopper within the packaging, which is a great idea to make sure the product doesn’t get everywhere. I was really attracted to this color, a kind of green teal color. Surprisingly, the other softer and natural colors such as browns and golds didn’t attract my attention while on display.

The next product that I picked up was the L’Oreal Telescopic shocking extensions mascara in 971 black. One of my girlfriends told me that this drugstore mascara is amazing and that I  have to try it. With already being a fan of L’Oreal Voluminious mascara, I thought I’d give it a shot. The wand on this mascara is surprisingly thin and small, but it allows you to really get into your lashes and coat as many as possible. With applying two coats, between each I let them set, I am decently surprised how many lashes appear. The only negative that I experienced after applying two coats is that it looks somewhat spidery. I’m not giving up on this mascara yet, but I just wanted to note that.

The other product that I picked up from L’Oreal was a true surprise. I honestly thought that this product was discontinued and I thought that I would never be able to get my hands on it. While at my local target, there was an abundance of the L’Oreal Magic Smooth Souffle foundation and they were all on sale!  I picked up this product in the color 512, Classic Ivory. When selecting my color, I was very intimidated because as I went through the color range, which wasn’t too bad, most of the products seemed way to dark, so I stuck it safe with one of the lighter foundations. This is a whipped creme foundation that I have heard nothing but good reviews from Rachel Whitehurst. To see her love for the product, check it out here in her empties video.  Hopefully I can have the same love for this product once I wear it a lot more, but for right now it is lovely!

From Maybelline, I gained a couple goodies. I only picked up one powder from Maybelline, the Shine free oil control loose powder. Not that I have dominantly oily skin, but I know that this powder will become a staple in the summer when the temperature increases. This product claims to give a matte finish, so hopefully it will help with my t-zone in the summer. I picked up this product in the color in 01 Light.

The next two products that I picked up from Maybelline are the Instant Age rewind foundation and concealer, two other products that have been raved about in Youtube videos and blogs.

For the foundation, I picked up the shade 190, Nude and for the concealer, which I was use as a highlight, in shade 120 light pale. Both of these products have a little sponge applicator tip which you twist in order to get the product out. While there are some people who don’t believe this is the best packaging for sanitary reasons, I personally have no problems with it. Loving the concealer so far and I cannot wait to try out the foundation. So far I am loving this!!

L'Oreal Dream Lumi Concealer

The last product that I picked up is the infamous Dream Lumi touch concealer. I specifically picked this us because I love an illuminated look underneath my eyes while the concealer still covers my circles and discoloration. I picked up this product in that shade.

Following the same with under eye pen like concealers, I got my hands on the Hard Candy Lite Bright. The Lite Bright is an under eye concealer pen which you twist at the bottom which allows the product to come out of the tip of the brush applicator. This concealer really illuminates while still covering what I need it to!

Oh how I love Revlon! I once again picked up one of my favorite drugstore foundations, the Revlon Color Stay 24hr wear foundation in 250 Fresh Beige. This foundation and I go back several years and it is still a foundation that I see myself grabbing on the regular. I love how Revlon now made two different lines, one for normal/dry skin and one for oily/combination skin.  With these two individual lines, it makes it easier for the buyer to know what foundation is better for her skin type.

Revlon Nearly Naked Face powder

The other product that I picked up was a product that I was probably the most excited about, none other than the Revlon Nearly naked face powder in 020 Light Pale.  The creaminess of this powder is stunning. When reading and hearing reviews on this powder, I knew I had to see and feel it for myself and man these girls were not lying, that powder is sooo nice! I love that it gives a matte finish to the skin.

Revlon mineral lipglaze swatch

The other product that I picked up was sort of impulse buy, the Color Stay mineral lipglaze in 512 nearly nude. I was quite surprised with this lip product because it came out a lot more pigmented than what I expected. This color comes off more on the brown/tan side of a nude color and this product can look great on its own or over a lipstick.

Simple moisiturizer

The last three products that I picked up were simple items. I picked up the Simple Replenishing rich moisturizer, the Neutrogena oil-free cleansing make up wipes and a Montagne Jeunesse Dead Sea Mud Spa Fabric Mask.

Neautrogena makeup wipes

Face mask

*Disclaimer: I purchased all products with my own money

If you guys want me to do any follow-up reviews on products once I’ve tried them out for a while, please let me know down in the comments and I would love to write or make a video responce 🙂

New goodies from NYX

So once again, I fell into the never-ending circle of buying makeup that I do not need, especially after going to IMATS last weekend. While shopping for storage compartments to now store all my new makeup in, one of my girlfriends and I decided to go to Marshall’s.  With already knowing my specific intentions inside of this store, I forced myself to not get distracted, however that only worked for a couple of minutes. While shopping around, I saw this NYX Cosmetics set which came with 11 different goodies, for only $15. If I were to buy each individually, I would have easily spent close to $100. So in this package came the following:

NYX eye shadow trio

1) NYX Triple eye shadow “17” with colors Frosted Flake, Slate and Luster

NYX Lashes

2)NYX Fabulous Lashes and glue in “102 Diva”

NYX eye shadow in Asphalt

NYX eyeshadow in Eggplants

3) NYX single eye shadows in Asphalt and Eggplant.

NYX lipstick in Silk

NYX lipstick in Uberchic

4) NYX lipsticks in Silk and Uberchic

NYX liquid liner in Copper

5) NYX liquid liner in Copper

NYX Jumbo lip pencil in Cocoa

6) NYX Jumbo lip pencil in Cocoa

NYX mega shine lip gloss in Gold

7) NYX Mega shine lip gloss in Gold

NYX brush on gloss in Sunrise

NYX Brush on gloss in Taupe

8) NYX brush on glosses in Sunrise and Taupe

Above is a picture of my swatches of everything except the eye shadow trio. Starting from the bottom are the two individual shadows, above that are the liquid liner and jumbo pencil. To the left are swatches of the two lipsticks and at the top of my hand are the swatches of the three lip products (you can barely see Taupe).

Lipstick swatches

Above are both of the lipstick swatches. Both of these are a creme lipstick with soft shimmer in them. Silk is a mauve-purple with shimmer whereas Uberchic is a soft tan creme with shimmer.

Lipgloss swatces

These are the lip gloss swatches, going from top to botton, Sunrise, Gold and Taupe. Taupe is the only lip gloss without shimmer. I was so happy to see how pigmented these glosses were when I swatched them. Super excited to try out Taupe over a natural lip color. I can’t wait to wear these colors!! Also a big perk on the NYX Mega shine lip gloss in gold for super cute packaging, has a bow on the top of the handle.

Liquid liner and jumbo pencil swatches

Above are the swatches of the liquid liner in Copper (left) and the jumbo lip pencil in Cocoa. Both have a satin finish and glided on my hand very easily.

Eye shadow single swatchesHere are the swatches of the two eye shadow singles in Eggplant and Asphalt. Both of these shadows are placed on with no base/primer. Very pigmented colors  and I can’t wait to play with them!

Eye shadow trio swatchesLast but certainly not least is the eye shadow trio. When I swatched these colors, with no base/primer, I immediately noticed that these colors are dupes for other eye shadows that I own. The soft silver shade at the bottom is very similar to Urban Decay Verve, found in the Naked 2 palette. The middle brown color is similar to Snake bite also from the Naked 2 palette. Looking at the pan this color isn’t identical, but the swatch proves differently. Lastly, the taupe shade at the top is very similar to MAC’s Satin Taupe.

Thanks so much for reading and talk to you all soon!!

Hey there everyone! So this past weekend I attended the International Make up Artist Tradeshow (IMATS) in Pasadena, California. This was my second time attending the event and I can tell you once again, that I will be going again next year! If you’re not familiar with what IMATS, it’s a make up convention that many labels, both big and small that sell makeup at a discounted price. So not only are major labels there such as Sigma, OCC, Limecrime, Makeup Geek, MAC and others, but there is also cinema makeup, make up schools and more! IMATS gives you the opportunity to see makeup in multiple lights whether it be for makeup artists, cinema or just for make up enthusiasts like myself.

Below is a haul from this past weekend at IMATS. You can see all the goodies I got. I will be posting reviews and detailed reviews on all products soon so keep an eye out for that! Enjoy!!

Elf Haul!

This is a long awaited review on my purchases from the line, ELF. If you’re not familiar with Eyes, lips face (ELF), you should be! Elf is sold at Target as well as online at their website. I was super excited to pick up a couple new items from their studio line, which is not currently available in stores. Therefore, after doing through research from video reviews, blogs, etc, I decided to purchase the following: brow kit, stippling brush, jumbo eye shadow pencil, two baked blushes and two HD blushes. When I purchased this order, I had free shipping , so my total was $20.00, which is not bad at all with each piece being around $2/3 each. I have heard positive reviews of all of these products therefore I wanted to try them out.

ELF Stippling brush

With already having a couple stippling brushes in my collection, I thought that with my new HD blushes, the stippling brush would give a great application. I’m not gonna lie, I had a little higher hopes for this brush however that does not mean that I do not like it. I thought this brush would be a little bit stiffer but instead its is super flimsy. Regardless, it is a good brush, synthetic and allows me to create a flawless application of blush/highlighter.

Oh how I love jumbo pencils. I have had great experience with the jumbo pencils from NYX so I though that I would give ELF a try. This is the only product that is not from their studio line but from their essential, most of which is available in stores at Target.  Out of the color selection available (10 colors) I thought this was a great that I didn’t already have. This is the color called Feeling Lucky which is a brownish red with a soft shimmer. I personally try not to purchase items that I can dupe from other pencils so that I don’t end up with a million different pencils all of which are the same color. This jumbo pencil is very creamy and the color pay off is great. I will say that they are not as creamy and long lasting as NYX however you can’t beat them at $2. I do recommend not using this product alone because it will fade therefore set it with an eye shadow that is similar for a more long lasting look.

I feel like i’m always in the market to find the best eye brow product and most people recommeded this duo of a wax and shadow combination for brows. Out of the selection of only four colors, I went with the safest bet, the lightest color in Ash. I thought this was the best bet because in case it is too light for my brows, which are naturally medium brown color, that I could at least use the wax to control the hairs from not going everywhere. I would personally say that I am a fan of the wax portion over the powder because it actually appears on my skin compared to the shadow. It was hard because the next lightest color on the website looked super dark so I obviously didn’t get that one. One thing I will say, upon opening this packaging, which I understand is pretty cheap, the plastic piece right below the mirror popped off and actually won’t stick back in, so that sucks. Overall, I hope that I reach for this more in the future.

The HD Blushes were the products that I was most excited about in this purchase. The first ELF HD blush in Headliner, the softest baby pink offered.  I have heard amazing reviews for this product and constant comparison to the Makeup Forever HD blushes for their packaging, which is very similar if not the same. The other HD Blush in Superstar. This blush is a lot darker than Headliner, but still definitely a every day wearable blush. Both of these blushes are a matte/dewy finish. Only a little bit of this product goes a long way however I highly recommend shaking this product prior to using it. Like with any product, the water can sit on top and be dispensed out first due to not mixing the product well, IE shaking it! Beautiful color pay off, great long lasting wear by itself or topped with another blush.

These are the two baked blushes that I got, one in Passion Pink (left) and Pinktastic (right). I got these blushes because I was interested in their pay off. As you can tell from the images above, Passion Pink is more of a blush whereas Pinktastic looks more like a highlight, which is the reason I purchased it. These baked blushes apply great with the stippling brush alone or on top of the HD blushes. When applying, I have noticed that they do tend to be somewhat powdery, but not as bad as other baked products that I have seen. Both of these blushes have a shimmer and sheen to them. Overall, loving these baked blushes so far!

Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!
